The Nugget Mountain Bar

The Historic Nugget Mountain Bar is located a just a half mile south Purgatory Ski Resort.

Enjoying The Nugget will feel like a walk back in time to an old miner’s cabin. From the exterior, the rustic log cabin looks like the setting of a Jack London novel. The lawn area is enclosed by old railroad ties, complete with gas firepits, cornhole and giant Jenga. A large deck area blankets the front of the old D-Log cabin, perfect spot for an elevated view of the surrounding peaks and listening to live music.

As soon as you open the door, the idyllic miner’s cabin transitions into the perfect après ski bar. Opening the door, you are greeted with a vintage 70’s chairlift doubling as a two-seat indoor swing. Authentic reclaimed wood, harvested from the property, lines the wall of windows framing the snowcapped San Juan Mountains. The wall of reclaimed wood is perfectly accented with a snowboard drink rail just below a large picture window facing the Twilight peaks and Spud Mountain.

Over a warm ski chair boot another large picture window that seems to take a postcard snapshot of the iconic peak of Engineer Mountain. This is the best spot for sipping a warmed specialty cocktail, watching the snow paint the Rockies, and relax after long day exploring. The centerpiece of this old cabin is a rectangular bar-top, constructed of Colorado-used skis, embossed in a glassy epoxy and perfectly situated for conversations with old-time powder-hounds. Behind the bar lies a large pass-through window, opening to the deck side of the bar, where you can belly-up yet still be outside.

As you make your way upstairs to the loft area, you will notice a wall of skis cascading down the stairs. If you come to watch a game, the snow falling on the mountains, or simply talk about the epic powder of the day with others...

The Nugget has a seat for you.
